The format-specific converters (JPG to PNG, PNG to JPG, JPG to WebP, etc.) are the right tools when you know exactly what conversion you need. They're streamlined for one workflow and have a focused interface. But for users who need to convert between many formats in many directions — designers handling a mix of source formats, developers normalizing uploads to a single format, content teams working with mixed assets — a general-purpose converter is more convenient than hopping between tools.
This converter will support every format direction supported by the format-specific tools, plus a few extra (BMP input, GIF static frames). The interface is one step: upload, pick target format, convert. Quality and transparency options appear contextually — quality only for lossy outputs, transparency only when both source and target support it.
Once it ships, the format-specific tools will still exist for the most common cases (JPG↔PNG, JPG↔WebP, PNG↔WebP), and this general converter will be the right choice for everything else.
